At least 115 Palestinians were injured after Israeli forces used live ammunition and tear gas on a ‘Great March of Return’ rally at the Gaza-Israel border, near Shajaiya on Friday, according to Gaza health officials.
Protesters were seen throwing stones at Israeli positions and burning tires at the border, while some were evacuated by emergency workers or fellow protesters as tear gas and, reportedly, live ammunition were used in an attempt to disperse them.
The Great March of Return, launched in late March, form a series of protests along the Israeli-Palestinian border to demand the right for Palestinians to return to their families’ pre-1948 homes.
