Israeli forces kill 6 Palestinians in protests – Gaza officials

At least six Palestinian protesters were killed and over 250 injured after Israeli forces used live ammunition and tear gas on a ‘Great March of Return’ protest along the Gaza-Israel border, near Shajaiya on Friday, according to Gaza health officials.

Protesters were seen throwing stones at Israeli positions and burning tires at the border, while some were evacuated by emergency workers or fellow protesters as tear gas and, reportedly, live ammunition were used in an attempt to disperse them.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) say that three Palestinians were killed after they breached the border fence and charged an Israeli military position.

The Great March of Return, launched in late March, form a series of protests along the Israeli-Palestinian border to demand the right for Palestinians to return to their families’ pre-1948 homes.
