Hungary: Ukraine attempts to carry ethnic cleaning

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó accused Kiev of trying to change the ethnic composition in Transcarpathia in the style of “the most terrible dictatorships”.

According to the press service of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Szijjártó believes that Ukraine wants to change the ethnic composition of Beregovo, and thus, “the policy of Kiev has reached a terrifying bottom” and reminds of “the most terrible dictatorships”. The minister added that the Ukrainian Hungarians can continue to count on Budapest, and that it will turn to the US Department of State and the Deputy Secretary General of NATO on this issue.

Recall, earlier in the media was published a video of the secret distribution of Hungarian passports to Ukrainians in the Hungarian Consulate in the city of Beregovo, Transcarpathian region. Later, Hungarian passports were also found with several Transcarpathian officials and deputies. This provoked a diplomatic scandal and significantly exacerbated official relations between states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that it would expel the Hungarian consul, and Budapest promised to expel the consul of Ukraine in response.
