America Squabbles With France Over Who Supplies Ukraine With A Handful Of Helicopters

The ambassador of Ukraine in the US Valery Chaly criticised the purchase of French helicopters for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. As “Glavnovosti” reports, he has declared it in Kiev, “The European truth” reports.

“I suggest to spend such an amount of funds that we spend on helicopters on American ones instead,” said Chaly.
According to him, Ukraine must recognise the priority position of the US in the case of large-scale military purchases, since up to 98% of military aid is received from the US.

As Chaly noted, the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to buy French helicopters  looks “strange” after America gratuitously transfered anti-missile Javelin systems.

In May Ukraine and France signed an agreement on the delivery of 55 Airbus Helicopters helicopters for the sum of over €550 million. Ukraine will obtain credit from France on favorable terms for the purchase of the helicopters.

At the same time, it became known that from the $250 million that the US will provide as military aid to Ukraine, half of the money will be provided under conditions dictated by the US.
