The European Union General Court upheld on Tuesday the European Parliament’s decision to recover €300,000 ($347,550) from far-right former French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen.
In 2016, an investigation by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) discovered that Le Pen was “unduly paid” €298,497.87 for parliamentary assistance between December 2010 to February 2016, after which Le Pen decided to take the case to the EU Court.
“In the case T-86/17 Marine Le Pen against the European Parliament, supported by the Counsel of the European Union, the court declares that the recourse is rejected,” the judge said.
Le Pain is still able to file an appeal against the decision.
