The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe proposed to launch an investigation into the case of exporting weapons under the auspices of the CIA from Romania and Bulgaria to militants in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The Bulgarian portal “19 minutes” published a document issued by the assembly, which refers to the beginning of an investigation of arms exports from Bulgaria and Romania in the period from 2014 to 2017 to the Daesh and other terrorist organizations in Syria.
Proceeding from the information report prepared in April last year by the Bulgarian journalist Dilyana Gaitandzhieva, it becomes clear that the terrorists in Syria receive large quantities of arms produced in Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria.
The journalist said that these weapons are exported directly to the regime of Al-Saud and the United States, then to fall into the hands of SAR militants. According to her, the CIA and the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia use the Azerbaijani airline Silkroad for weapons supplies through Bulgaria.
The portal noted that Bulgaria met these messages in silence. The State Agency for National Security of Bulgaria launched an investigation into this case, Gaitandzhieva was fired from the newspaper Trud. In addition, according to the portal, many media and international organizations, including the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and the international federation of journalists noted that Bulgaria, which is an active country in the illegal arms trade, hands it over to militants in Syria, the revenue from this trade reached $2.243 billion.
According to the portal, the report was distributed by Euronews. According to it, 33.18% of the weapons and 20% of the ammunition are produced in the EU countries, especially in Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.
