Russia appreciates the constructive trust-based dialogue with the Vatican and is glad that the interchurch dialogue continues, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
“We appreciate the constructive trust-based dialogue between the Holy See and Russia,” Putin said.
“The agreements reached during my contacts with Pope Francis are being consistently implemented as well, and we are very happy that the interchurch dialogue continues.”
The Russian leader noted that he is aware of the meeting between Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Cardinal Parolin that took place earlier. “We welcome the direct dialogue that began between the Holy See and the Russian Orthodox Church,” the Russian leader stressed.
He noted that the universal and humanitarian values protected by the Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church are the basis for relations between both the two churches and the two states.
