France: Police search home of suspected Paris attacker

 

 

French police searched the home of the man suspected of attacking soldiers in a Paris suburb, Wednesday, in order to look for possible terrorist links.

The man in question rammed a BMW into a group of soldiers at their base in Levallois-Perret at 08:15 local time, leaving 6 wounded. After the attack the man was chased along the A16 motorway in northern France by police, who opened fire on the car. Authorities shot and arrested the attacker.

The suspect, identified as 36-year old Algerian Hamou Bachi but who also used the name Benlatreche, is thought to be an immigrant who was facing deportation back to his country of origin.

The motivation for the attack is as yet unknown, however French authorities are looking into possible terrorist links.
