Restoration of death penalty in Turkey “will shut the door” of the EU, said Juncker

The restoration of the death penalty in Turkey “will shut the door” on the way to that country’s membership in the European Union, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said.

“This (the restoration of execution – Ed.) Will shut the door to membership in the EU”, – leads on Monday the words of Junker Internet newspaper EUobserver.

According to her information, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday, on the anniversary of the failed military coup, that 250 dead by the authorities will be avenged.

“We will first cut off these traitors, we will cut off their heads,” Erdogan said.

In April, the constitutional referendum in Turkey ended with the victory of supporters of the transition from parliamentary to presidential form of government. It is expected that with new powers the head of state can hold a referendum in Turkey on the restoration of the death penalty.
