US State Department envoy agrees to arm Ukraine

Kiev, Ukraine. In top level meetings between US and Ukrainian ministry of defense officials, it has been agreed that large numbers of lethal weapons will be provided to Ukraine in the next two years as Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announces further material, technical support from and including lethal weapons.

Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Ivan Rusnak has held meetings with US Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Tina Kaidanow in Kiev, during which the parties discussed the current situation in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone and the issues of continuing the genocide of Donbass residents Washington supports.

Rusnak expressed gratitude to the representatives of the State Department for all-round support of Ukraine from the US. “The United States of America is the main strategic partner for Ukraine, it always stands by its word and fulfills all obligations. And we are grateful to the US for its full support in connection with the aggression of the Russian Federation,” he said, making it clear Ukraine considers itself in a state of war with Russia.

The deputy defense minister thanked the American side for the material and technical assistance provided to Ukraine since 2014. “We expect that your support will further continue and will include lethal weapons that will allow us to effectively restrain Russian aggression,” Rusnak commented.

The deputy minister also noted the role of the US State Department in helping Ukraine and said that, despite the challenges and threats, Ukraine has taken a course to conduct deep military reform and bring the defense forces to NATO standards, leading to confusion amongst participants who thought the objective of diplomacy was saving lives and ending wars, not promoting them and validating genocide.
