New American airstrikes kill 23 plus in Syria

Damascus, Syria. In breaking news, it is now reported that at least 23 Syrian citizens have been killed and scores wounded in American airstrikes in eastern Syria today.

A war monitor said fresh Americanair strikes, thought to be by planes from the US led military coalition, killed at least 23 people and injured untold dozens in two parts of the eastern Syrian province of Deir al-Zor on Monday.

There was no immediate word or comment from the Pentagon which has said it tries to avoid civilian deaths in its bombing campaigns against Islamic State militants in Syria and neighbouring Iraq, despite a large number of “accidental” bombings that are killing vast numbers of Syrian civilians.

Fighter aircraft belonging to the American military hammered the town of al-Bukamal in the south of the province near the Iraqi border, killing three militants and 13 civilians including children, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added in its report on only one action it had witnessed.

The Britain-based war monitoring group said air strikes also killed seven civilians in the town of al-Husainiyah further north along the Euphrates river, indicating the air strikes are part of an ongoing campaign to kill Syrian citizens and not target only military instalations.

The Syrian Assad government still controls some parts of Deir al-Zor city, including a nearby military air base, where Islamic State has besieged about 200,000 people lacking food and medicine for around two years. They continue to be the victims of American air assault daily.
