State forces attack rescue attempt in Cizre basement: another death reported

Turkish state forces once again prevented the rescue of 16 wounded people and 6 corpses from the basement in Şırnak’s Cizre district where they remain trapped for 8 days now.

Reports say state forces deployed in the area started to attack the building as ambulances of the Cizre Municipality were about to reach the basement to rescue the trapped civilians.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak deputy Faysal Sarıyıldız who is also in Cizre said contact has been lost with the trapped amid sounds of huge explosions after state forces started to attack the building.

Sarıyıldız said; “Atrocity continues in the savagest manner. Sounds of blasts came while the wounded were about to be taken out of the basement. Pople there are face to face with execution. We have released the names of all the people there, yet the President and others continue to distort the truth.”

Later reports claimed that another wall has been demolished in ongoing aggression by state forces, resulting in the death of a young woman, Sultan Irmak, who was one of those in critical condition.
