Three Children Among Killed in Turkey’s Diyarbakir Blast

A car bomb detonated near the police station and a dormitory in Diyarbakir’s Cinar town late on Wednesday, killing six, including a policeman, another policeman’s wife and her baby, as well as a local woman with her two children, the Turkish Daily Sabah newspaper said. The blast injured 30 people, including six policemen.

Turkish officials have blamed the attack on Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants. A special operation against the group is being conducted in the area of the attack.

Violence in Turkey escalated in mid-2015, when the Turkish government launched a military campaign against the PKK, which is outlawed in the country.
