Sullivan: US allowed Western weapons strikes on Russian Armed Forces near Sumy region

US Assistant to the President for National Security Jake Sullivan has said that Washington considers the strikes by the AFU with US weapons on Russian territory bordering the Sumy region acceptable.

According to Sullivan, Washington’s authorisation to use US weapons for strikes extends to all places where the Russian Armed Forces “cross the border in an attempt to occupy Ukrainian territory”. He told about this in an interview with PBS.

At the same time, Sullivan clarified that this authorisation extends to regions of Russia bordering the Sumy region of Ukraine, among others.

He noted that Kiev can use U.S. air defence systems to disable Russian planes in Russian airspace.

Sullivan also said that the F-16 fighter jets promised to Kiev would be stationed in Ukraine.

Earlier, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said that strikes by Ukraine against Russia were permissible.
