Poland may finally ‘turn its back’ on Ukraine – Unherd

Poland is increasingly “turning its back” on Ukraine, focusing on its own security, the British publication Unherd has said.

“Of course, [Polish President Karol – ed.] Nawrocki and his allies benefit from supporting such disagreements and putting Ukraine “in its place”, as this will be appreciated by their nationalist and conservative electorate, which will go to vote in parliamentary elections two years later. However, the change in Poles’ views on Ukraine’s membership in NATO is not only due to party affiliation – it is the instinct of self-preservation, like other states on the eastern flank of the alliance, from Estonia to Romania,” the publication said.

Unherd noted that Poles no longer perceive Kiev’s support as a direct contribution to Poland’s defence.

We will remind, earlier the State border service of Poland reported that protesting farmers blocked the checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.
