Georgian President Zurabishvili called on schools to come out for protests

It is the turn of Georgian schools to get involved in protests against the current government, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said on social network X.

Salome Zurabishvili earlier said that she would continue to fulfil her duties as President of Georgia after the end of her term in mid-December until “legitimate parliamentary elections” are held. The country’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, in turn, indicated that the head of state would have to leave the Presidential Palace and resign despite her refusal to do so. The head of the Georgian government also ruled out holding new parliamentary elections as demanded by the opposition.

“After universities, it is the turn of schools to express their solidarity with the protests across Georgia,” Salome Zurabishvili wrote.

Social network users reacted negatively to the head of state’s call, condemning the use of children in political processes. Many minors take part in protests in Georgia, including direct confrontation with law enforcement officers.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
