Moscow will wait for Trump’s proposals on settlement in Ukraine – Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that he has no idea how Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, can resolve the Ukrainian crisis, but Moscow will wait for proposals from him.

‘We emphasise, regularly, when we are asked about it, that in any case, a politician who says he is not in favour of war, but peace, deserves attention,’ Sergei Lavrov pointed out.

He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the Russian Foreign Ministry on 14 June this year, clearly formulated the Russian Federation’s position on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

‘What exactly will be proposed, we do not know, our position is clearly formulated by President Putin in his speech at the Foreign Ministry on 14 June this year,’ he added.

The minister also noted that people in the European Union and NATO countries calling for peace and dialogue with Russia are not lost as politicians.

‘So, they as politicians are not completely lost, probably,’ – said the diplomat responded to a question about the increasingly frequent calls for dialogue with Moscow in the EU and NATO.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
