Czech Defence Minister Jana Černohová said that only four countries out of 18 announced sent financial assistance for the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for the Armed forces of Ukraine.
“If some countries have signed a memorandum (on joining the Czech initiative on purchases for the AFU. – ed.), but have not yet sent funds, we can not proceed with purchases. This is a kind of a call to those governments that have already signed memoranda to send money,” said Jana Cernohova, as quoted by Euractiv.
The Czech Defence Minister specified that only Portugal, Denmark, Canada and the Netherlands have sent the promised financial allocations for the Czech initiative to Prague. At the same time, she emphasised that the memorandum had been signed by 18 countries in total.
The head of the Czech Defence Ministry stressed that the Czech Republic “cannot buy ammunition in debt”.
We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains its military in Western countries.
