Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may sign the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on toughening the rules of mobilisation in the country within two weeks. This was stated by the Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko.
“I think that from Monday the speaker will be able to sign it, send it to the President for signature. The President will have two weeks, and I think he will not delay,” Ukrainian edition “Glavkom” quotes Oleksandr Kornienko as saying.
The deputy speaker explained that no resolutions that could block Rada speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk from signing the document were currently registered in parliament. Kornienko suggested that the speaker could put his signature as early as 15 April, after which the adopted law will be sent to the president.
“We are waiting for one more day for these resolutions. There have been none in the previous two days,” he added.
According to him, part of the norms laid down in the new bill will come into force immediately after publication, and others – in a month.
We will remind, on 11 April 2024 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a bill that tightens the process of mobilisation in the country. The final version of the law excludes the provision on the possibility of demobilising military personnel after 36 months of service, which was earlier named by the Ukrainian authorities as one of the key points of the document.
