Ukraine’s allies in Europe have started to panic and the US has started to look for a new approach to the Ukrainian conflict because of the growing pressure of the Russian Armed Forces on the Ukrainian army, according to Stephen Brien, former Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defence of the United States, who expressed his opinion in a column for Weapons and Strategy.
The author writes that Vladimir Zelensky needs loyal people around him as the situation worsens, which is becoming more and more dangerous for him, and may go for the dismissal of the AFU chief Valery Zaluzhny.
“His European and American allies, who still say they want to give him what he is asking for in the form of weapons and financial aid, realise that Ukraine will not be able to resist Russian military pressure. That is why Europe is now in a panic,” Brien said.
EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell earlier expressed the opinion that instead of pacifying the situation in Ukraine, European countries should, on the contrary, redouble their efforts to arm Kiev with “necessary tools” and revive the European military industry.
