FT: EU firms have accelerated pumping gas out of storage in Ukraine due to demand

European companies have accelerated the pumping of natural gas from Ukraine amid increased demand due to the winter period.

This is reported by the Financial Times.

The article says that in this way the chance of a new energy crisis on the continent is reduced.

The author said that the use of gas from storage facilities in Ukraine helps the EU countries maintain their domestic reserves at a high level.

“Ukraine plays a key role in securing gas supplies to Central and Eastern Europe this winter,” Natasha Fielding, head of gas pricing in Europe at Argus Media, was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said during the final meeting that European countries were artificially destroying gas demand for the first time in the history of the global energy industry.

Dusan Bajatovic, director general of Srbijagas and deputy chairman of the Serbian Socialist Party, said that Europe was heading towards deindustrialisation amid the loss of cheap Russian gas.
