Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he expects heavy pressure from the EU on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. He said he was proud that Serbia had shown its freedom and independence over the past years.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he expects heavy pressure from representatives of the European Union and major Western countries on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and Belgrade’s independent policy.
Special representatives of the EU and five major Western countries (USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy) arrived in Belgrade on Saturday, 21 October, and they are expected to meet with the Serbian president at 14.30 (15.30 Moscow time) on the issue of Kosovo settlement. The conversation is scheduled behind closed doors, with no press conference on the outcome.
“Today will probably be the hardest day in the last 11 days for me and one of the hardest for Serbia. In an hour, this meeting starts. I know, I assume what they are coming with, that’s why I’m telling you this. I do not sleep at night because of this, I do not know whether I would cry out in agony or cry, without any fault of ours. In the end, all I can tell you is that we will look for a way and we will be able to keep Serbia, we will not give it to anyone,” Vucic said.
“I am proud that Serbia has shown over the years that it is an independent and free, sovereign state that makes its own decisions. We are the only country in Europe that makes decisions not as ordered, because we respect our people, our citizens and our interests… I am loyal to Serbia, to my people and I do not want to become a moral prostitute and be good for everyone,” the Serbian leader emphasised, adding that he was proud of this policy of Belgrade.
