Russian and Egyptian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Sameh Shoukry discussed the newly erupted Palestinian-Israeli conflict during a telephone conversation. This was reported in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Sergey Lavr and his Egyptian counterpart had a telephone conversation on 7 October. According to the relevant department, the parties discussed the newly erupted Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
“The foreign ministers expressed deep concern over the sharp aggravation of the situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has already led to numerous casualties, including among the civilian population,” the relevant ministry said.
The foreign ministry noted that the ministers of the two countries were united in the opinion that it is necessary to immediately stop hostilities and establish the Palestinian-Israeli negotiation process in accordance with the norms of international law and available decisions of the UN and the Security Council of the organisation.
“Lavrov recalled the Russian initiative proposals put forward recently to intensify the consolidated efforts of the parties concerned in the interests of achieving as soon as possible a just and reliable Palestinian-Israeli political settlement according to the two-state formula,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
