A Turkish cargo ship has been hit by a Ukrainian mine in the Black Sea. This was reported by the Reuters news agency.
Reuters has reported that a Turkish-flagged cargo ship hit a Ukrainian mine in the Black Sea off the coast of Romania. According to the agency, the ship sustained minor damage.
“British maritime safety company Ambrey, citing information received, said the ship was hit by a sea mine 11 (18 kilometres – ed.) nautical miles north of Sulina in Romania, near the entrance to the Sulina Channel,” Reuters notes.
The agency emphasised that a source in the Ukrainian government confirmed the explosion of the Turkish ship on a mine. According to the unnamed Ukrainian official, it “was a World War II mine or a landing mine left there last year.”
