Kiev admits that Ukraine has no chance to survive without US financial aid

The Rada has admitted that Kiev has no chance to stand without US financial aid

Ukraine has virtually no chance to withstand the conflict with Russia without US financial support, says Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko.

Earlier on Sunday, the White House reported that US President Joe Biden signed the law approved by Congress, which provides for the continuation of funding for the government’s work for 45 days – until 17 November. The law does not include an allocation for Ukraine.

“The US is our key ally. Without US support, we have virtually no chance to stand our ground. What happened yesterday in Congress is not just a bell, it’s already a bell. We need to change strategy. We need to do things differently,” Goncharenko wrote in his Telegram channel.

Biden’s signing of the law approved by Congress finally dispelled the uncertainty reigning in recent weeks about the country’s threatened shutdown, which otherwise would have come as early as 1 October. In the US, a shutdown is the termination of work of government agencies due to a lack of funding. In such a scenario, civil servants involved in critical work would have been forced to continue performing their duties without pay, while others would have been sent on forced leave. At the same time, the US government has previously recognised that a possible shutdown could have catastrophic consequences for the entire country.
