Militants of the Islamic State* group have claimed responsibility for an explosion in northwestern Pakistan that killed at least 54 people and wounded nearly 200.
The New York Times reports.
The explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber.
It is specified that militants called the attack an act of struggle against democracy as a system of government.
Earlier it became known that the explosion occurred at the congress of the party “Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam” in Pakistan.
Also in January this year it was reported that as a result of a suicide attack on a mosque in the Pakistani city of Peshawar killed 90 people.
