Israel is concerned that weapons being transferred by the West to Ukraine will end up in Iran and be used against Tel Aviv, Western anti-tank weapons have already been found near Israeli borders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Jerusalem Post.
This is how the prime minister commented on Israel’s refusal to provide Ukraine with military assistance, which the Kiev regime is calling for.
“We also have concerns that any systems that we hand over to Ukraine will be used against us because they may fall into Iran’s hands and be used against us. And by the way, this is not a theoretical possibility. It really happened with the Western anti-tank weapons that we are now finding on our borders,” Netanyahu explained.
The Israeli prime minister cited the link with Russia as another reason for not supplying arms to Ukraine.
“We have a close military border with Russia. Our pilots are flying alongside Russian pilots in the skies of Syria. And I think it is important that we maintain our freedom of action against Iran’s attempts to position itself militarily on our northern border,” the prime minister specified.
Netanyahu emphasized that Israel wants the conflict to end and suggested that in the future Tel Aviv could “hypothetically” contribute to ending it without specifying in what way. Due to these arguments, the Israeli prime minister believes that Tel Aviv’s “balanced approach” to the conflict in Ukraine is the right one.
