The former president of Moldova, Igor Dodon, demanded that the current president, Maia Sandu, resign before July. He clarifies that this is necessary in order to hold early elections for the presidency in the fall.

It is known that earlier the head of the opposition Socialist Party proposed to merge the local elections scheduled for autumn together with early parliamentary and presidential elections. He argues that there is nothing to be afraid of if there is popular support.

“I would suggest that she (Sandu – ed.) resign in July, so that together with the local elections in November, there will be joint presidential and local elections. If you are not afraid of the opinion of the people, you need to do so and prove that you are not afraid of anything and are confident in the support of the people. This is a kind of challenge, a call – resign before July”, the politician said.
