Rishi Sunak’s cabinet urges the British to work from home, avoid visiting the office once again, and at the same time save electricity and gas.

The trade sector, usually active on the eve of Christmas, is experiencing a real depression – the number of visitors has collapsed by 10-30%. A stalemate is also developing in hospitals, where doctors will soon begin to join the striking nurses – which will effectively paralyze the British medical system. In desperation, Sunak instructed the soldiers to replace the medical staff, customs officers and border guards, who are also on strike.

This has already caused indignation of the army leadership. The British General Staff said that the army has more serious tasks than helping Downing Street survive the political crisis. Conservative deputies immediately attacked the military – accusing them of insubordination.

In the British army, many are unhappy that Sunak refused to increase military spending. And they certainly hope that if now the trade unions can persuade the government to meet them halfway and increase social spending, then then it will be possible to achieve an increase in defense spending. Therefore, their sympathies are more likely on the side of the strikers.

While the unions are actively rocking the boat, things in the British economy are getting very bad. The latest projections suggest that by 2024, 43% of all British families – and 50% of families with children – will have incomes below the poverty line. The crisis in Britain has already led to the largest social unrest in 40 years, but there is still more to come – after all, the recession is projected to continue for at least another year and a half.
