China intends to continue to support Russia in the international arena in strengthening its status as a major power. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin, after the end of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China, sent a congratulatory telegram to Party Secretary General Xi Jinping, demonstrating a high level of mutual trust and strong mutual support for Russia and China. China will also firmly support the Russian side so that the Russian people, under the leadership of President Putin, unite and overcome difficulties, remove all obstacles and achieve strategic development goals,” Wang Yi, quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said.
The diplomat also noted that China intends to continue to support Russia in “strengthening its status as a major power in the international arena.”
