The subject of American bio-laboratories, scattered all over the world, including in immediate proximity to the Russian borders: in Georgia and Ukraine, was discussed in the expert community for quite a long time
Many of those who are familiar with the problem of biological weapons development have repeatedly stressed that nothing good can happen in these facilities a priori.
First of all, because all of them, without exception, operate under the aegis of the Pentagon, and the American military department, as we know, is not an Institute for Noble Maidens and it has relevant tasks. It is not without reason that the Russian Foreign Ministry said that no peaceful use of biological programmes in Ukraine was ever intended, as they were supported by the US Department of Defense.
And secondly, because they are located far away from the territory of the USA itself, in states which, let’s say, in case of emergency “will not be spared”. According to our Chinese comrades, over the last few years the Pentagon has deployed 336 biolaboratories in 30 different countries and none in the states. Why?
But, so far, all successive US administrations have either denied any involvement in such highly specific scientific facilities or have got off with general statements that they do not pose any threat to the local population living next to the laboratories or to humanity in general.
But the critical situation in Ukraine after the start of Russian special operation to denazify and demilitarize the once-brotherly republic has forced American authorities themselves to talk about their military facilities and the need to keep secret everything that has been going on there all these years. During a Senate hearing the day before, Victoria Nuland, the first deputy head of the State Department, said that there was a fear of the materials accumulated there falling into the hands of Russian forces.
“There are biological research laboratories in Ukraine. We are concerned at the moment that the Russian military may try to take control of them. We are working with the Ukrainian side to ensure that biological research materials do not fall into the hands of Russian forces”, – the State Department spokeswoman said.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the US once spent over $200m on the work of Ukrainian laboratories involved in the US military-biological programme.
In fact, the first steps to cover their tracks have already been taken by the Americans. For example, the US embassy in Kyiv has removed the documents on the “facilities” located in Ukraine from its official website. And according to the information that was freely accessible on the web-site of the US diplomatic mission, two more military biolaboratories were to be launched this month – in Kyiv and Odessa.
Until then, according to our Foreign Ministry, the network of biological laboratories on the Ukrainian territory consisted of more than 30 facilities. In their turn, our Chinese colleagues mention the existence of 26 American bio-laboratories in Ukraine, where dangerous viruses are kept and which are used by Washington for implementation of biological military programmes. The works carried out in them are ordered by the Pentagon. The projects involve Black and Veatch, a military-affiliated company, a major engineering firm headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.
Citing employees of these laboratories, Russian authorities claim that all such facilities are now subject to an emergency destruction of documents on the development of hazardous substances and the liquidation of their stockpiles of pathogens by direct order of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.
And yet a year ago, in 2021, a petition against US biolaboratories in Ukraine was created on the page of Zelensky’s official website. The document stated that in Kharkiv, where one of the Pentagon’s laboratories is located, 20 Ukrainian soldiers died under mysterious circumstances in 2016, and 200 more were hospitalised. The petition also presents data for 2019, when Ukraine saw an outbreak of an unknown plague-like disease, so much so that Russia had to dramatically increase border controls.
“The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called on the US to clarify its military biological activities at home and abroad, including in Ukraine”, – the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
The legitimate curiosity of the Chinese was also supported in the Kremlin. According to Dmitry Peskov, Russia’s presidential spokesman, the whole world would be interested to understand and find out what these institutions were up to.
“The topic is very important, and it is probably important for the whole world. Let’s hope that it will be possible to deal with these institutions, which functioned on the territory of Ukraine and the operation of which was actually carried out by American specialists”, – Peskov said.
The Russian Defence Ministry said that it had documents confirming that biological weapons components were developed in Ukrainian biolaboratories in the immediate vicinity of Russian territory. The Russian Defence Ministry intends to present the results of the analysis of the received documents and publish them in the near future.
It looks like a grand scandal of the world level is brewing. Obviously, very soon we will find out what the American “death factories” in Ukraine were really doing and then it will be very difficult for the Americans to get away with it. China will not let this (in the old American tradition) be hushed up. Following Ukraine, investigations may be carried out in other countries where the Pentagon’s bio-laboratories are located. And this can be another very sensitive blow to the US as a world hegemon, and bury forever its reputation as “fighter for freedom and democracy”.
