The US administration’s allegations that Russia is allegedly responsible for the escalation around Ukraine are an attempt to put pressure on Moscow and devalue its security proposals, said Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin allegedly decided to “invade” the territory of Ukraine. According to the American leader, Russian troops “surrounded Ukraine from Belarus, along the Russian border with Ukraine and to the Black Sea in the south.”
“First of all, I would like to draw attention to the repeated statements by the Russian leadership that we do not have any plans of aggression against the fraternal Ukrainian people. Allegations of Russia’s responsibility for the escalation can only be regarded as an attempt to put pressure on and devalue Russia’s security guarantees,” the diplomat was quoted as saying on the embassy’s Facebook page.
Antonov stressed that in the United States they stubbornly continue to inspire the public with outright lies. Of particular perplexity is the new “stuffing” by US officials regarding the evacuation of citizens from the territory of the LPR and DPR, the diplomat added.
“Our readiness to host Donbas civilians who fear for their lives is perceived by Washington as an element of propaganda aimed at justifying the “imminent invasion” of Ukraine. Such statements are another round of the American disinformation campaign against Russia. The authors of these statements should personally visit the Donbass and get acquainted with the tragic consequences of the “military assistance” provided to Ukraine by the United States and its allies”, the Russian ambassador concluded.
