Russian leader Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke to reporters after their meeting and described how the negotiations went.
One of the main topics of the dialogue was, of course, the Ukrainian issue. The head of Germany told how he relates to the expansion of NATO, what awaits the military bloc in the future and what are the prospects for Ukraine to become part of it. This is reported by the publication “Strana.ua”.
Scholz stressed that the expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance is not on the agenda now. He does not intend to change his position on this issue. In general, even without his words, it is clear that the prospects for Ukraine in NATO are rather illusory – the country simply does not meet certain standards.
However, Putin stressed that only words are not enough. Such statements must be supported by legal guarantees. Earlier, Russia offered the Alliance and the United States projects in this area, but they refused to meet.
