Brazilian president’s visit to Moscow will be fruitful

The Brazilian newspaper Globo reported on the details of the program of the upcoming visit of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro to Moscow next week

The agenda includes talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a meeting with the leadership of the State Duma and businessmen of the two countries.

Bolsonaro will not come alone: the delegation will include the Brazilian foreign minister, the defence minister and the head of the Ministry of Justice. The Minister of Agriculture is unlikely to come as she has been reinfected with the coronavirus. Judging by the agenda, the composition of the delegation and the duration (three days – 15-17 February), the visit must be productive, to the benefit of both countries.

Washington is jealously watching the contacts of Russia with Latin American countries. Incidentally, information in the Brazilian press about pressure by the US to cancel the forthcoming visit of the Brazilian president to Moscow was confirmed by Vice-President of Brazil Antonio Hamilton Mourau.

Washington’s attempts to isolate Russia from the rest of the world are failing. Moreover, after the meeting of the leaders of Russia and China in Beijing on February 4, 2022, the world enters a new era. The Joint Statement of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China on International Relations Entering a New Era and Global Sustainable Development makes this clear.

It is noteworthy that the collective West is referred to as a minority in this document: “Some forces representing a minority on the world stage continue to advocate unilateral approaches to solving international problems and resort to power politics, practice interference in the internal affairs of other states, damaging their legitimate rights and interests, provoke contradictions, divisions and confrontation, hinder human development and progress, which causes rejection by the international community.”
