Russian Senator says great doubts in Europe about the new sanctions war against Russia

Senator of the Russian Federation Alexei Pushkov said that European politicians express doubts about the correctness of the sanctions policy against Moscow, as it could cause too much damage to the European economy.

Earlier it was reported that the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, admitted in his blog that Russia has made much more efforts to effectively resist sanctions from the West, unlike the European Union, which has not been able to endure interruptions in gas supplies with dignity.

“In Europe, there are great doubts about the new sanctions war against Russia and the promotion of “hellish sanctions”: the boomerang effect for Europeans may be much stronger than from the first Russian countermeasures that affected agricultural products from the EU. Borrell’s statement once again confirms these doubts,” Pushkov said in his Telegram channel.

As previously reported, sanctions against Russia by London may affect the assets of energy companies. Restrictions may include an asset freeze as well as a ban on entering the UK.

According to Andrey Movchan, an expert at the Carnegie Moscow Center, possible sanctions against the Russian Federation will not be able to cause much damage to the Russian economy. The analyst said that Russia’s withdrawal from the oil, gas and grain markets would lead to price disasters and shortages in other countries.
