A new strain of coronavirus infection has been detected in the south of France. The unknown variant has been detected in tourists returning from Cameroon. Experts say the new strain has 46 mutations
The unknown COVID-19 strain was detected in 12 people after they arrived from Cameroon. Experts have concluded that the focus of the new strain of the virus may be there.
So far, the strain has been given the name B.1.640.2. It was first detected by experts in Marseille.
Whether this new variant is more contagious than the omicron strain remains to be clarified.
