Europe has increased the volume of gas imports from Russia

Gazprom reported that European countries have significantly increased imports of Russian natural gas, writes Ekonomika Segodnya.

“Over the nine months of 2021, against the backdrop of growing demand and a decrease in their own production of natural gas, European countries increased its imports by 18 billion cubic meters (by 7.5%) by the same period in 2020,” the press service of the company said.

Over the past ten months, the European Union has increased the corresponding imports by 31 billion cubic meters. It is also noted that the purchase of liquefied natural gas by European countries decreased by 13 billion cubic meters.

Earlier it became known that “Gazprom” increased the level of gas production for ten and a half months of this year by 15.2% (in quantitative terms – by 58.8 billion cubic meters). These volumes are expected to cover about a third of the growth in global energy consumption.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously instructed Gazprom to start scheduled work to increase the volume of fuel in European UGS facilities. Experts from the German newspaper Welt noted that this statement by the Russian leader helped stabilize gas prices.
