NATO international military headquarters closed in Moscow

NATO’s military liaison mission and information bureau have ceased operations in Moscow

This is Moscow’s response to the withdrawal of accreditation from eight employees of Russia’s post-agency mission to the North Atlantic Alliance.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the withdrawal of accreditation from the Russian mission was not linked to any incident.

The mission operated under the auspices of the Belgian embassy and was endowed with diplomatic privileges. Its purpose was to broaden the NATO-Russia dialogue by providing a link on the issues of interaction between the NATO Military Committee in Brussels and the Russian Ministry of Defence.
