Lavrov and Guterres discuss situation in Ukraine and Afghanistan

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has discussed with UN Secretary General António Guterres the situation in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and Ukraine

“The secretary-general and the foreign minister discussed cooperation between Russia and the UN on a wide range of issues. The two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and Ukraine”, –  the office of the administrative head of the international community said in a statement.

The high-level week of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly is taking place from 21 to 27 September in New York. One of the main topics was the situation in Afghanistan, where the Taliban* have seized power. Guterres convened a donor conference in Geneva aimed at collecting $606 million to help the Afghan population over the next four months.
