According to the pro-Taliban news site Afgan Urdu, female students supported the decision to wear the hijab and separate education from men.
As reported by TASS, the pro-Taliban news resource Afgan Urdu on its Twitter page disseminated information that a group of students from Kabul University organized a rally and seminar on Saturday in support of the radical Afghan Taliban movement (banned in Russia).
“The female students supported the decision to wear the hijab and separate education from men. Afgan Urdu posted a video showing a demonstration of women wearing black hijabs with their faces covered, carrying posters with pro-Taliban slogans. In addition, according to the resource, a large women’s rally in support of the Taliban is taking place in Herat”, the statement said.
In Kabul, women have tried several times to stage demonstrations against the Taliban, demanding protection of their rights, representation in the new Afghan government and the right to participate in the country’s political life. On September 4, the Taliban fired tear gas to stop women from protesting as they tried to march towards the presidential palace.
Earlier, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that women would not hold ministerial posts in the new government.
They, according to him, will be able to work in ministries, police, in the judicial system, but only as assistants.
