Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko praised the talks between the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelensky, which took place in Washington on September 1, RIA Novosti reports.
“The fact of the visit is positive, but the results of the visit indicate that there are no results. The restoration of the Strategic Partnership Commission is not a historic step, as Zelensky is trying to submit”, Poroshenko said.
He recalled that Ukraine failed to obtain a Membership Action Plan (MAP) in the North Atlantic Alliance. According to Poroshenko, nothing but NATO membership can provide Kiev with a “reliable guarantee of security.”
In addition, the ex-president noted that Ukraine expected the introduction of new sanctions against Russia from the United States, but Washington ignored this.
