Expert says German fascists are closer to modern Ukraine than Soviet wariors

Modern Ukraine does not identify itself with the victory over fascism. Today’s “patriots” feel themselves on the other side – the defeated Nazism.

This was stated by political scientist and historian Oleg Nemensky during a conversation with Ukraina.ru. According to him, those who consider themselves the Ukrainian nation cannot claim the feat of the Soviet soldiers.

The “Patriots” have not yet openly talked about their love for Adolf Hitler (although dubious incidents occur regularly). Official Kiev claims that during the Second World War, the Ukrainians were “against everyone.”

“Alliance with Nazi Germany is still forgiven to the ancestors, since they still chose the side of the West, not the East. The West is ours, the East is alien. This is their ideology at the national level”, Nemensky said.

At the same time, the attitude towards the veterans who really fought against the Nazis and won the freedom of the country with blood is no less strange. They are considered the “enslaved mass” who were sent to fight with Germany.

Nemensky stressed that the main problem is the spread of such an ideology. There are fewer and fewer people who honor the memory of the Victory, and modern Ukrainians are exposed to new “correct” views.
