Ukrainian deputies pay special attention to the names of settlements in the country. They should not be Russian or Soviet, so as not to undermine the principles of patriotism.
Another settlement fell under the distribution. The new name was given to the village of Novgorodskoe, which is located in the part of the Donetsk People’s Republic occupied by Kiev. it will now be called New York.
The small village is home to only 12 thousand people, but thanks to the ingenuity of the Verkhovna Rada, they can proudly be called New Yorkers.
Apparently, the American name does not in any way affect the national idea of Ukraine. However, such news looks even more impressive against the backdrop of numerous statements by the authorities that no one is ruling the country from abroad.
