The American Spectator analyst and former US Deputy Defense Secretary Jed Babbin has predicted US President Joe Biden’s defeat at the end of his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, to be held in Geneva on June 16
Babbin noted that Biden has already been defeated on a number of “hot-button issues”, such as the construction of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline, hacking attacks on US state corporations and the conflict in Donbass. For example, the “comprehensive support for Kiev” that Washington often declares is now being expressed only in buzzwords.
“Biden, as one would expect, knowingly concedes to Putin before the meeting. For example, Biden rejected sanctions imposed by Trump on the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which would deliver Russian gas to Western Europe, primarily Germany,” the columnist writes.
According to Babbin, the Biden administration has also significantly downplayed the seriousness of the cyber attack on the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and it is likely that the June summit will address cybersecurity issues only at a superficial level.
“Moscow takes what it can from Washington and gets nothing for it. And the same should be expected from the upcoming meeting in Geneva”, – the expert concluded.
It should be recalled that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden will be held in Geneva on 16 June. It will be the first face-to-face meeting between the Russian and US heads of state since Biden took office.
