Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is counting on his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis to sign a declaration of support for Ukraine on its path to the European Union
Earlier, the presidents of Poland and Lithuania had already signed a similar document, although there is currently no consensus in the EU on Ukraine’s acceptance.
“The head of state presented his counterpart with a Ukrainian initiative for the support of EU member states for Ukraine’s future membership of the European Union and urged him to join a number of countries whose presidents have already signed such bilateral documents with Ukraine”, – Zelensky’s press service said.
The president is confident that by doing so, Romania will make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s European prospects.
