Ukrainian expert explains how Zelensky lost contacts with Moscow

Attempts by the Kiev elite to force Moscow into dialogue may have a completely opposite effect.

At one time, the oligarch and war criminal Petro Poroshenko, being the president of Ukraine, found himself in a situation where the Russian leader Vladimir Putin cut off all contacts with him. If Volodymyr Zelensky does not reconsider his current position, he will find himself in a similar position.

As News Front reported earlier, Zelensky had previously blocked the work of three objectionable TV channels NewsOne, ZIK and 112 Ukraine by his decree. These controversial measures were taken despite criticism from the European Union and international organizations. But the president did not confine himself to violating freedom of speech, targeting the same objectionable opposition.

The target was the Opposition Platform, a party that advocates the normalization of relations with Russia and criticizes Western government interference in Ukrainian affairs. Now they are trying to explain these attacks by Kiev’s attempts to put pressure on Moscow and demand some concessions from it.

If this is a real explanation, and not an invention of pro-government propagandists, Zelenskiy can achieve a completely opposite effect, Ukrainian political analyst Oleksiy Yakubin is sure.

“Today, among other things, clear bellicose rhetoric is heard, but this option is also a losing one for the authorities”, the expert explains.

“Against the background of socio-economic problems provoked by the authorities themselves, they are trying to divert public attention”.

The President of Ukraine has not been able to resolve the situation with utility rates, Yakubin recalled. Thus, Zelensky has already lost the support of most of his electorate. Persecution of the opposition under the pretext of pressure on Moscow further weaken the position of the Ukrainian leadership.
