England has been under a tight lockdown since early January with a wide range of travel and contact restrictions. Now Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced an ambitious opening plan. Accordingly, the British government wants to lift all restrictions on the coronavirus pandemic in England by 21 June, Johnson promised in a speech to Parliament in London.

As a first step, schools and other educational institutions are due to reopen as early as 8 March.

“Children will be able to sit face to face with their teachers”, –  Johnson said.

Scotland and Wales, on the other hand, are counting on a gradual reopening of schools, which has already begun this week. According to Johnson, he will also be allowed to meet the contact person on the street again from March 8.
