US President Donald Trump looks forward to a diplomatic breakthrough at a meeting between Serbia and the breakaway republic of Kosovo September 4 in Washington. This opinion was expressed by a professor at the London School of Politics and Economics James Ker-Linji. His opinion is quoted by Parlamentskaya Gazeta.
According to the British expert, after the signing of the peace treaty between the UAE and Israel, Trump is counting on another foreign policy success, which can provide him with a final solution to the Kosovo issue.
Ker-Linji believes that US representatives are planning to put serious pressure on Belgrade in order to sign a final agreement on the normalization of relations.
“The Americans want to see a treaty between Belgrade and Pristina, so the Republican administration hopes to achieve another diplomatic success ahead of the US presidential election,” said the British political scientist.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of self-proclaimed Kosovo Avdulah Hoti were previously invited to a meeting in Washington by the US Presidential Assistant for National Security Robert O’Brien.
