Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has become the second head of state who has expressed a desire to test the Russian vaccine against coronavirus on himself.
He made such a statement on Monday, August 17, speaking at a daily press conference.
According to the Mexican president, the country’s authorities are ready to establish contact with Russia in order to obtain a drug developed there.
“So that no one doubts how important it is to us, I am the first to be vaccinated,” said Lopez Obrador.
“However, we need to understand what’s going on and ensure efficiency and accessibility for everyone.”
As News Front reported earlier, Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic had previously expressed his willingness to test the Russian vaccine on himself.
Russia became the first country in the world to register an effective drug against coronavirus. A vaccine that could end the pandemic will hit the market under the Sputnik V brand name. From October it will be available to everyone, and the vaccination will be carried out at the expense of the budget.
