The members of the Organized criminal group must stop the violence and think about the suffering they cause their victims, says Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Organized criminal groups operating in Mexico distribute food to poor people in several regions of the country. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador acknowledged this at a press conference on Monday.
“I would like to take this opportunity to tell those who are in organizations engaged in illegal activities that I saw you distributing food packages”, – the President said. -” It does not help”.
According to Lopez Obrador, members of the OPS should stop violence and think about the suffering they cause their victims and their loved ones. The New Generation Jalisco and Golfo drug cartels participated in distributing food to the population in states such as Guanajuato, Colima, Michoacán, Nayarit, Zacatecas, Tamaulipas and Jalisco, according to El Universal.
With the proliferation of the new coronavirus, the measures taken by the Mexican authorities, including the isolation of the population and the declaration of a health emergency, have not reduced crime rates. Last Sunday, 105 intentional homicides had been recorded in the country, the highest number of such murders a day since the beginning of the year.
On 18 December 2019, the Minister of Public Security and Citizens’ Protection, Alfonso Duraso, acknowledged that the Government had not achieved its goals in combating crime. López Obrador promised on January 15 that the authorities would make a difference by December 1 this year.
